🎃 The Wild Origins of Halloween: From Spirits to Snickers Bars
The idea of dressing up and visiting homes wasn’t new either. Medieval Europeans had a tradition called “souling,” where the poor would go door-to-door offering prayers for the dead in exchange for food. Later, children began to take over the custom — dressing up and performing little songs or tricks in exchange for sweets or coins.
